10th Annual W M R S Ride Bishop, CA July 24-27, 2014
The 10th Annual WMRS Ride in Bishop, CA. yes, they changed the name to White Mountain Research Center(WMRC), but let's just call it WMRS for old times sake.
Thursday July 24 thru Sunday July 27. (some folks show up on Wednesday)
DO NOT SEND ME ANY MONEY, THIS IS AN " UN RALLY ".
YOU WILL PAY FOR CAMPING AND DINNER YOURSELF (we might do something different Saturday Night..... I'll keep you posted.).
Again, this year we will be using The Browns Owens River Campground.
It is located on the Benton Crossing Rd ( also known as the Green Church Rd ) 6 miles east of US 395. Turn East at the Green Church just north of Crowley Lake and just south of the Mammoth Airport. The campground has showers available from 8 am until 4pm, very clean restrooms, and a small store with Beer and Ice. They also have a grill for Breakfast and Lunch.
$27 per day for a pick up or a with trailer or a motor home.
$13.50 for motorcyclists that ride in.
DO NOT CALL THE CAMPGROUND!!!
I have spots for 100 + ADV Riders reserved.
I WILL BE IN CAMP SPACE #73.
WHITE FORD VAN
Also the Camp Ground is located at 7,000 ft. The nights can be cool, that's why we use it. Also there are COWS on the road, that's why they call it "Open Range"
Showers are available 8AM-9PM for $2 a token. 1 shower is available 24/7 locked from the inside.
Store is open 8AM-5PM
Check Out is at Noon.
Quiet Hours (generators off hours) is 10PM-8AM.
Pay at the store when you arrive. This campground can handle RV's of any size. If you like to fish, bring your gear. The Fly fishing is fantastic here. FYI this campground " Does Not Take Credit Cards" ( no land line, but cell phones work great ), but they will take a check and of course cash.
Rhonda is no longer part of Browns Campground. they have "a new Sheriff in town" as the man Dale stated. :lol3
PM me or post if your in and I'll put you on the list :deal

Once (twice now) a year the White Mountain Research Center opens their gate. Located in the Bristle cone Pine Forest, this is the only time of the year that you can ride all the way up to the station and check it out ( 13K ft ).
It is always the first Sunday in August, but for some reason it's July 27 this year.
ride dates are 07/24/14-07/27/14, with the open gate on Sunday 07/27/14.
ride up to the White Mountain on Sunday to see the amazing views..
The area is loaded with great dual sport riding and camping. This a great weekend of riding the high country , with much cooler temps. I will be making the trip, hope you can join me. The pic reports below say it all.
Info On White Mountain Research Station:
White Mountain Research Station, with its principal office located in the Owens Valley near Bishop, was established in 1950 to provide laboratory facilities for any qualified research investigator wishing to utilize the high-mountain environment for his or her work, and to serve as teaching facilities for field courses conducted in the region. There are four separate laboratory sites: one in the Owens Valley; a second at Crooked Creek, at an elevation of approximately 10,000 ft (2,090 m); a third at the base of Mt. Barcroft, at an approximate elevation of 12,500 ft (3,801 m), making it the 11th highest high-altitude station in the world and the fourth highest in North America; and a fourth, the Summit Laboratory, atop White Mountain Peak, at an elevation of 14,246 ft (4,340 m). The Summit Laboratory is the fourth highest high-altitude research facility in the world and the highest in North America.

the management, AKA Dale, wants to streamline the check in with everyone, so if i can have all of you FF's PM me your real full name, your vehicle year, make, and model (if you're riding in, gimme your bike info, or trucking it in, truck info).
also license plate number.
how many days and which days you are staying.
if i can have all this info by Sunday, that would be perfect.
Dale doesn't have a computer at camp and sounds like he doesn't have a smartphone so he has to check his email at home once or twice a week.
i told him i'd email him Sunday night.
if there are last minute stragglers, no worries. i told him this and he just wants the majority of people's info so when you check in, it will take only a few minutes. instead of 10+ minutes.

Need I even reply, have not missed 1 WMRS. First was maybe 15 guys & we camped just outside bishop past the town of ravona. Original usfs free camps, I believe it was big creek. So needless to say IN:freaky

I'm in for WMRC!:freaky
I've always wanted to see this place. IN!
Count me in! 5 years in a row since Shawn is counting.:lol3
I am IN. Looking forward to seeing you FF's again.:kumbaya
Gonna be here the 22nd through the 26th with Steve, his brother, and one other dude. We'll ride down to Brown's for beers with everyone on Friday or Saturday.
Just up the road at Convict Lake. Booked it last year for when it was available, kind of bummed at the time that it was going to be a week too early for WMRS, but I guess that moved up a week in the calendar? Looks like it worked out though.
