I wouldn't even try testing it on the road until it passes the tests.

It appears that it's a common design for PWM. Even the "7 dollar ebay" PNW LED controller modulates the ground and passes on the +12v straight to the output. There must be some advantage to that...

The Skene and the Trailtech switch look pretty darn good.
Just need to verify that the housing on my lights isn't connected to ground.
