I installed a oil separator on my bike and I am pretty sure it is running better and has more pulling the mid. Had a nice ride up around the Angeles Crest today. Guess it was hunting...

Yes, i just did the same thing. I need to order the plastic connector between the hose and the airbox. That was missing in my box o parts from the PO, but I fitted a temp solution.

I had a similar problem w/o the noise on my bike when I went from a Uni to K&N, put the Uni back in bike is fine now. The K&N was causing it to be very rich, even more so trying to ride the Angeles...
