Bummer on the valve cap. They just need a hair past snug to keep the o-ring seated

The 2 relief channels are for the rubber posts on the L. If it were a 600R tank there would be 4 nuts cast into the front of the tank for the 600R brackets

Looks like a 650L tank... That is the correct hole and mounting bolt pattern for the L petcock. There should be some numbers cast into the plastic where the front of the seat goes, if I remember...
