I've tried searching but couldn't find any reference to the diameter of the upper and lower fork clamps? Anyone got the numbers at hand? I don't have my bike at hand so can't take the measurement...

The reasoning behind the setting for the rear shock I can totally dig, but you misinterpret the front settings imho. The compression and rebound settings has nothing to do with rider weight per se....

Yes my impression is that when set to hard the rear is kind of bouncy and tracks the ground poorly in high speeds. I never had this impression on tarmac though. Maybe I'm just not going fast enough....
