Problem solved! Turns out there is no issue with the Montana or the mount. I am using it on a 2009 Arctic Cat snowmobile. The sled does not have dc power, only ac. The Montana works fine at idle but...

Not sure how this would work on a bike but on the snowmobile if we want warmer hand warmers we put expanding foam inside the bars. This might hold the heat on the clutch side a little better.
