Well the theory worked, chains on and timings done. Tomorrow I'll put the covers back on and all the plastic back together. To do the job you'll need a cam chain tool, I used a cheap one off ebay...

Best gearing I've run on the bike so far is 15/47, it transform the bike. It felt to me more like riding a thumper then a twin, heaps of front wheel lift in first and second gear.
