Check the function of the breather - pucker up and blow through the filler - no tongues now :evil

I think you should find out why the flange came loose before just replacing it.
Perhaps a failed bearing in the FD has allowed play which contributed to the loosening?
It'd be worth getting it...

And as for using an 18" instead of a 17" I don't know. But using a 21" in an 18" wheel...

But basically the head guard mounting points on the 1200 aren't good. The head guards may well protect your covers, but you'll probably damage the cylinder...

The grease on the boot isn't for sealing. Probably there just to ease fitting. There is an open drain hole in the swing arm - so it's not sealed.
