AFAIK, though I don't see how it's possible. Doesn't seem like there's much to assemble "incorrectly", here, unfortunately. 2 spacers and either an odo sensor or no-odo-sensor. :scratch

That's what I've seen on other SM wheels....no spacer and the speedo set into the wheel. I'm not sure what was going on the with PO's bike, this photo clearly shows that he had the sensor mounted...

Thanks, zephyr. As you can see, removing the odo sensor causes the axle to bottom out on the threads about 1/8" before compressing the forks all the way down on the hub+spacers, so I guess we know...
