I am 5'10" and 63 years old and ride two up 90% of the time on a 08 GSA. Used to ride a K1200LT but it did not like adventure roads.

This is pretty common on the K1200LT's. My solution, and the one I use on my GSA is to hold the bike upright for about 20 to 30 seconds after shutting the engine off before setting on the side stand.
