How come no one uses the BMW mounting points? All the popular brands like Jesse, Givi, etc require mounting hardware that looks extremely ugly when the bags aren't attached.

Noticed my iPhone gets pretty hot running Navigon in an air conditioned car. Wonder if heat would be a problem with the unit stuck in a waterproof/dustproof case, in the sun on a hot motorcycle?

I'm using the Garmin Rugged Mount. See my post a couple of pages back. Very little vibration - at least the way I installed it. Even less than on the Touratech which held my 478.

That's what I've discovered too. My motorcycle profile is setup to avoid almost all the options in the avoid screen. The only option missing would be a "scenic" route as it still won't pick the most...

Yup, volume control is there and I've confirmed that it's seated properly. Guess I'll have to plug in a headset and bypass the intercom to try to isolate the problem.

On the Garmin RM, there's an audio jack (at least that's what I'm assuming). Anyone try it? I'm not getting any audio out of it myself. I'm not playing MP3 files, just wanting to get navigation...

His design takes the anti-vibration of the Garmin RM out of the equation as the mount is directly touching the backplate. His design looks like it will provide better dampening anyway.

It seems to be working OK but on the Map Information screen under Setup, the boxes that show the maps contain funny characters. Selecting that map and choosing "i" for info causes the unit to power...

Check out the Midland GXT 800 GSRM/FRS radios too. They're waterproof so can be mounted on the outside of your tankbag. Easier to adjust channels, volume, etc.
