Magnet should work

I think sensors in different places work differently. Magnet seems to work for me.

other places going along side the sensor to might work to allow the sensor to induce a current in your wheels....

Don't buy these, they are just magnets. I just bought a bike that had one on it, it does seem to help. But all it is is a neodymium magnet (really strong). So just buy one of those and duct tape it...
