I bought my 1150GS at 94K miles. About four years later its just passed 150K miles. All I've had to do is some small thing. The big things are gas, tires, oil and filters.

Use a large philips to get the Motronic out onto a bench. I then used pliers to loosen and tighten the Torx? fasteners. Once you have them loose a small screwdriver works. Same for tightening them.

Pull the straps outwards thus pulling the sides of the helmet out. Its what I do when putting my modular helmet on and off. Sometimes I still knock my glasses off.

I've heard of people going a considerable distance on duct tape. You do have to rewrap it occasionally and make sure to put the tape on in the right direction. Taking it easy goes without saying.

You are correct. The LHS/clutch is the "upgrade" and is the one I replaced this morning. It took about half an hour, fiddly not hard to do. The reduction in noise is incredible.

I would also point out that the kits from Galfer or Spiegler are cheaper than just the single BMW hose that goes to the front right caliper and they come with the bolts and washers.
