having ridden both a lot...

I suspect the beemer "felt" slower because it wasn't yours and you weren't comfortable wicking it up. I don't own either but have sold both and ridden both often.. Beemer-weighs less, bigger engine....

rode colorado late August

much of where you are going.. rain, snow-didn't stick ground too warm-hail, sleet. Great fun. never all day but sometimes you'd be at 14k feet and chilly then ride down to the valley and 90 degrees.....
