Cruise

Mine started acting up on a 1500 mile trip a couple weeks ago. It kept cutting out without any brake or throttle input to cause it. It kept happening while riding with just left hand on the grip. It...

Remus

It sounds great. A little deeper but not at all obnoxious. Just a bit louder. Seat of pants, feels like it has a bit more punch, which I did not really expect.

Steering damper

3500 miles, never felt the need for one. Handles very well and no stability issues.

Mine shifts really well

I have just over 3300 miles and the shifting seems to be getting better. Neutral is easy to find and, with the exception of shifting into first at a stop, very smooth.
A non-issue for me.

Ohlins

Unless you ride with a passenger a lot or carry heavy luggage a lot, I would go with Ohlins, the ESA is a nice convenience, but the shocks do not compare to Ohlins as far as quality, ride & handling.

Road to nowhere

And a thermos, don't forget the thermos. Have a safe & fun trip. When you get back, maybe you can talk me into putting the dirt wheels on and get me off the pavement for a while.

I have done several all day rides on the HP2 and the seat is OK. I think it depends on the riders size to a certain degree. I switched rides with a friend who was on a r1200gs with a Sargent seat and...

I bought a new 05 R1200GS in Dec 04. I put 18,000 miles on it the first year. Mostly commuting and long weekend rides with a few 3 day weekend trips. Last summer I saw a local used HP2 wit 2000 miles...
