If you need a strong battery to fit into a /5, check out the Odyessy PC680 battery. Its the size of the /5 battery with the strength of the larger battery for the /6 or /7.

You might also check to see if the connector for the fuel pump is disconnected. You might have done that when you replaced your battery since it sits right next to it on the right side of the bike....

Mine vibrates there too but this almost sounds like the valve making the noise. I plan on taking it apart to inspect/clean the head. Then I will run it again to see if it made a difference.

BTW, that bike is not a 1978. It is a 1977 model. Check the fork caps and you will see a /6 leftover. The 1978 when to the padded dash to cover the unfinished forks.

Just thought I would add my 2 cents. I picked up an old 72 model in similar condition for $400. I have it running now and have just over $2000 in it. It's not real pretty but at least it runs nice.
