I will add that my 81 R100RT has the same setup. I always use a sealant plus new o-rings and still get some light weeping at the base over time. I have use Hylomar and Yamabond with egual success.

It's not a gel battery its an AGM (absorbed glass mat). I doubt you will get a 100% charge that way. There is a procedure to do so if you go to their web page.

Keep in mind the age of the bike and the fact it isnt the best thing to over tax the system. Buy warmer clothes. It takes a good 20 minutes just to recharge the battery after starting the bike.

I tried the Avon AM26 Roadriders on my 81 R100RT and the rear tire cupped. That is the only tire to ever do that in many tens of thousands of miles. Using the Pilot Actives now.
