Rode a few times in sand with my '02 Adventure but it took 10 years off my life and I was looking for the coffin by the end of the day. I have a bum knee that I won't stick out so that doesn't help....

Before you goop up the top of the engine to reinstall(post pump rebuild), I'd suggest fitting it on dry so the dall in the pump fits in the cover. TDC make it a little off IMHO.

Maybe I'm crazy but I think if you loosen the carb and turn it sideways and then remove the idle fuel screw and spring and o-ring and blow compressed air...

If the intake valve settings start to loosen noticeably I'd have a look.

Some seem to last longer than others. I had one fail at 24K KM....

The head will come off with the engine in place.

Do you have fresh oil in the airbox, if you don't have fresh oil in there I'd leave the head alone....
