Pros n cons of Dimpled vs undimpled rims...

For your application either works just fine ,,it is an aesthetic thing...

FYI,,,Excel makes both another option are Sun rims ,,they only come in a satin finish versus a shiny anodized finish on...

You're not the only one that has noticed that,,,IMO these specs are nominal suggested values for street use...what works best for other operations/uses is a different matter...based on what works...

FYI,,,when ya make the conversion to 18'' rear and using big knobbies....mostly no problems until ya hit mud..then the mud builds up and does strange stuff to the flimsy shock protector...

FYI #1,,,on the Watercooled 1200 GSWs 21 works fine and some models of 140/80 x18 are a smidge too big,,,,some have gone with 130x18 IMO a bit small for...

of course it's not the optimal OPTIMAL choice....which IMHO is 21/18 offroad and 19/17 on road

mainly because of the actual riding characteristics of those combinations,,,AND the broader choice...

FYI,,we have done numerous 21 to 19 conversions,,,using 2.5x19 front X-laced to allow clearance,,can seal for tubeless too,,no one has ever reported about dragging anything issues...
