Aerostich now has riding jeans with a pocket for armor at the knee that allows you to remove the armor without removing the pants. They look pretty well designed, but I have no experience with them.

I have over 100k miles on mine and several crashes, some while traveling at a good clip. I have never had an injury to my foot or ankle while wearing them. They do get to be comfortable to walk in...

my dad did all mechanical work on our cars himself, including rebuilding automatic transmissions. I always sat near and watched, and he used visegrips on springs. Ya just grab them and pull!
