couple things quickly

all balls has fork swap bearing info on their site, 10 year old forks are pretty cheap , ktm wp stuff included on the cheap to buy list , but on the expensive to tune list, also.

In my wee experience , I would be looking squint like at the rod . ValveS and piston would be mounted on a plaque on the wall . And I would be damned certain that the rod didn't get a little tweak ....

I think what you outlined UJM with Dual sporty tires and a skid plate . EX500, gs500e ,zzr250 . Buy a running titled bike and change fluids and tires.$1000 to 1500 should cover most ,if not all .

Ok, are fork lengths roughly same ? can the blank wp triple be drilled to match original offset ? need to measure center of both fork legs O-O to center of stem. ...

Theses didn't come till after I started , most expensive funnel made. No "my car is on fire(steam)" comebacks , saved 20 gallons of water washing off car ,to be cleaned up or stepped thru.

Off top of my head , light machine oil ,Stoddard solvent and propellent and no ,I wouldn't use solvent and oil on my tires .

Those that have said it dries , no it is absorbed into the tire. ...

Victory s use 56mm apparently. "lightingmycycle" on ebay has some . $85 pompano bch ,NO TIES or Relationship to me . Others came up when I searched 56mm fork clamp .

Don't be discouraged . radiator guard material could be as low tech as 1/4 " wire cloth . The stock car supply places have loads of materials , the flat track guys have motorcycle modification ideas...
