At or about your 600 mile mark, stop at a local Walmart.
Get appropriate oil, spend 10 bucks on a cheapy oil drain pan....

Almost bullet proof except for the rectum-fryers.
A known issue. Keeping the stator/rectifier and ground connections clean of corrosion helps with current flow...
