I had a XR650L, great bike just different. Nice to do so many miles and be able to stand up and not feel i have to stretch for a half hour. Also i avoided the highway on the XR.

I bought a set of these off ebay and they work very well and they support the sub-frame. Plus they hold your bags away from the exhaust.

Good advice though, I have around 28k miles on mine with one top end rebuild, and I'm sure that the engine isn't perfect but man is this bike reliable.

I do the Mountain House freeze dried, stop for lunch somewhere that looks good. Breakfast is Oatmeal and coffe. I usaly pack some GORP for a snack. Gas is more of a problem, its easy to get on a road...
