Sending your injectors out for cleaning won't hurt anything but your pocket book, hopefully this wil solve your problem.

I have never heard gear selection have any direct relationship with hall sensor failure.

The typical hall sensor failure is induced by heat.

It is hard to image the hall sensor would work up...
