BMW R100M Gas Tank Issue

On the underside of my 1995 R100M fuel tank in the there are two 3/16" dia (or so) metal pipes projecting downward, roughly 1" apart, with one ahead, one aft. There's also a rubber hose coming up...

R100GS overfull transmission

On draining all fluids from my newly aquired 1990 GS I found the transmission oil was over full. Lots of white frothy oil came out when I removed the side drain plug.
