Yes, the V-Strom gas tank is designed to be covered by the fairing and has mounting brackets welded to it for the fairing as well as strange lobes hanging off the front and simply looks too bizarre...

I did 'em one at a time too. They resist moving too far up, one at a time, because you are forcing them in to a parallelogram. So, I would loosen one side, move it up a little ,tighten it to hold...

The DL650 won't be able to match the offroad capabilites of your KLR as well as the GS, but It isn't clear what type of roads you are expecting to ride on.

That's the key consideration.

I still would have got a 650 Strom , no matter what Honda does, because they are too proud of their stuff and overprice it. Suzuki will give you bikes around $6,000 that are new fuel injected...
