I had the H&Bs on my '02 GS, and I like the bars.

I cut the alternator cover in half, horizontally, with a band saw. This allows cover removal without removing the bars.

The starter on the GSA looks a lot newer than the rest of the bike. Has a "Made in Poland" sticker. Is likely an aftermarket. Whoever replaced the starter must have lost and not replaced the dowel.
