after about 7 min in stop and go city riding it's now completely responsive again.

What might be the problem if after warming up it runs strong? I don't hear nearly as much popping either.

Changed fluids and took the bike out for a ride after finishing up tonight.
It was running as if it were just on a single cylinder, or maybe not getting fuel as with throttle it would bog down....

It's a /7 and stock has the under/internal fender brace.

Just went to check the valve clearances and noticed that the vertical clearance or end play was very big - about .4mm or more on both rocker arms so loosened the bolts and fashioned the tool to cinch...
