On my '07 GSA's black rims, I used to just "paint" silver balance weights with a Sharpie and it held up very well. Also used a Sharpie to touch up any tire change scratches on the rims.

Because the GS/GSA spoked rims are too wide to use something like the Motion Pro rim protectors, I just used thick plastic strips under the tire irons on my GSA's black rims and they protected it...
