The part with the hole is irrelevant with the brake's operation

It keeps the inside of the piston from filling with dust or water. Could help keeping heat away from the piston. Works like a cap to the inside of the piston. No need for rebuilding calipers. Would...

I believe the dash dies when something wrong happens at the starter relay.

You could check the connections down there, as they are susceptible to rusting. Have a look in there and let us know.
Cheers.

I follow a different approach.

I use a cheapo 35euro lead acid battery that is cheap enough to replace every year or whenever it dies and a small LiFePo starting battery by AntiGravity to be safe and able to start whenever I am...

+1 for TPS issue.

TPS plays its role controling idle speed. It could have lost its adjustment or got worn off.

The problems arise when the motor gets hot. It can ran perfectly well, till the temperature rises. Then the fuel temps rise and the fuel pump sucks warm fuel. The pressure drop and high temperature...

Removing cam bridges...

I found out the hard way, these bolts tend to strip the alen insert in their heads. I would suggest have a replacement set in hand. You will also need a torque wrench.

How much do you think a bike costs to produce?

I would think 4000euros. So costs must be mainly R&D + advertising(competition drivers support) so a smaller bike with few R&D costs should be economically feasible.

Facets are not bulletproof as initially believed.

Mine lasted 35k kms with filter replacement in the middle of its life. When quit it was with no warning. Dr Beans is much more reliable, especially if you do not submerge.

There was some talk in here on mineral oil attacking aluminum

Seems fork oil is much milder on the cylinder bore. Thinner also than ATF makes clutch operation lighter.

Maybe monitoring fuel filters' condition would be a solution

If we could monitor the amperage the fuel pump is drawing, we could "know" the resistance the pump is finding in pumping fuel through the filters. This would help decide when is the right moment to...

Early 950s had a sticking front axle.

That is when a tools was invented to puss the front axle out. I made one at my local workshop and makes it a bit easier.

Fuel filters, pump?

A lot of grief was due to blocked fuel filters. I suggest you check them as a possible cause of snatchyness.

These are M6 bolts with alen short head.

I tried stainless bolts, but had some trouble to get them out sometimes and needed them to be magnetic material. So went back to OEM bolts.

This has been researched extensively and the solution was given by Dr Bean. I don't see any novelty justifying opening this chapter again.

Some things to get straight.

Fuel pump primes unless there is pressure in the lines. That goes only for OEM fuel pumps. Facet will always prime, as it is not pressure sensitive.
I suggest you install DrBean's update on a OEM...

Any chance the balancer shaft seal is misplaced?

This could increase oil vapours blowby. It is positioned at the generator cover, on the left side of the engine. If you had that part opened, the cover could have been wrongly mounted.

What he said.

Rejetting doesn't need to drain the coolant. Some people prefer to dismantle the radiator but not too common. I would guess there was an amount of coolant in there that kept you going?

My $0.02

I think these orings, swell lightly with gas and seal the leaks. I think they do that normally without being damaged. I don't think they will get damaged.

You probably have a pinched vent line on your left tank.

The vapours push the fuel to the left tank.
You may also have restriction on your left petcock.

when you release a faulty product. This is the feedback you deserve. So why should people with problems be diverted to go buy a Vstrom is beyond me. A faulty product gets the beating it deserves....

Was riding in the mountains. Fuel filters' part numbers are the same for 1190 2013, 2014 with 990 fuel filters as Zuber mentions. They are the same with RC8 fuel filters as well.

Are you using the original pushrod? It was supposed to drive some oil to the clutch discs instead of the oil jet. Could be the combination is working well in your bike.

Pay extra attention on the cam bridge bolts.

They can barely take the torque. I had one damaged twice. A very good and new allen 4 should be your tool.

I would suggest you keep the OEM if working properly.

Just make sure you have a spare oring in case you need to open the fuel pump and cut-damage your oring.
Cheers.
