The 1190 has 3 computers. The main MCU malfunctioned on my bike after only 100kms. The dealer hooked it up to their diagnostic computer... couldn't find the problem..... they reflashed the MCU, no...

Thanks for the responses... I'm not a total...... Hooked up the grips and pushed the appropriate buttons .... nothing! Doesn't go on or off or high or low.... just stays blank. I'll have the dealer...

Heated Grips

I installed the heated grips and yes, it's easy.... but the dealer tells me I have to flash the computer to get them to work. Is there any way around this? Thanks

Canisterectomy

Pretty easy.... rip out the canister and bracket.
Follow the hose back to the PCV valve (under gas tank on left)
Pull the hoses off the valve.

OK, re: the fault code that popped-up after I did the canisterectomy .... It appears I actually had two fault codes. The one for the Canisterectomy is now gone and was probably caused by me leaving...

Anyone done this on an 1190adv yet?
If you leave the PCV connected to the ECU but block off the vacuum it should work, but why did I get a general failure code?
