I couldn't get mad enough to yank it out, so I decided to make an extractor tool. Pair of vice grips, piece of all-thread, some hardware and the weight from a slide hammer. Easy sleazy. :thumb:

I'd take the West Side Road to Warm Springs Canyon and then over the Mengel Pass to Ballarat. Make sure you check out the Geologist's cabin by Striped Butte, and make a stop at the Barker Ranch...

A lot of us have done the same thing. As an added bonus to doing the helicoil / stud mod, you'll find that re-installing the bars will be much less fiddley.

I had a DRZ for a year and thought it was a good bike until I hopped on a modern enduro and realized it was a friggen pig in the dirt. The KTM 350 or 500 (Husky 350 / 501) would be a great choice...
