I've owned or ridden them all... totally depends on your tastes.

An older KLR would be easiest to re-sell......

I'd fire it up and let it idle. Much easier to find a leak. Don't discount a faulty cap either. Coolant may be leaking from it but only appearing at the bottom. Also, try idling without the cap on....
