Thank you so much! It was 6pm by the time I made it home. The Alameda PD were kind enough not to tow it, so I just pushed it on home. The PD pointed out that it was called in by "someone who saw it...

Thanks for the responses. I have comprehensive insurance but it's not going to cover the true value or the blood, sweat and tears I've put into making that thing run right over the last three years....

Police responded within 40 minutes of the call so kudos for that. After taking the report, the Alameda PD cautioned me that "anyone found riding the bike may be detained at gunpoint."

Yes please.

I've moved since I bought my '09 990 so not sure if I'll get the notification. Can someone scan and post a copy, or quote the range of VIN numbers?

Thanks

Where does the TB mention loctite?

There was a TB to add Loctite to the starter flywheel bolts, but not for the clutch pressure plate. TB0804 only requires loosening and retorquing of the pressure plate bolts.

And from the HOW:...

If it was 10dB you definitely would notice. dBs are a log scale; a 3 dB increase = twice as loud, 6dB is 4 times, 10dB is approx 10x.

Huh?

A 10dB reduction is 90% quieter. The damped sprocket really makes that much difference? I've switched to an undamped aftermarket and haven't noticed 10x the noise level.

Seems contrived

How often do you expect to crash into a ravine and not need urgent medical attention vs a winch? I'd rather use the 15lbs or 8lbs to carry beer.

Not trying to be a dick.....just sayin' das all.

There are two different style 990 spark plugs.

All 950s and 990s up to 2008 have a 16mm hex spark plug.

The 2009 and later 990s have a 14mm hex plug.

I purchased an Assenmacher 14mm BMW...
