I checked mine twice and only once was an adjustment required. I followed the tutorial and used a torque wrench. After tightening the lock nuts, recheck the clearances.

I'm rooting for a loose screw on a valve adjuster that has allowed the adjustment to get bad enough to prevent it from running but not so bad as to wreck anything.
