Have you considered a Husqvarna TE 250? They have a lot more power than either of the ones you mentioned. They are also more dirt capable out of the box.

Unfortunately there was nobody there. I think I read somewhere that this lookout is usually open. It is a little hike up the rocky hillside but it was worth the effort.
