Hmmm.

1982 R100S, owned since new: I replaced the pushrod seals for the second time in 2007, had a leak at the engine rear main seal in 89, replaced the neutral switch in 2006, and the final drive seal in...

'82 R100S. Always been a bit of a bastard to get onto the centerstand. It has the stamped steel deployment tang, and the textured, sort-of-square, steel foot placement pad. The stock sidestand...

A key to a master padlock, dead center in the tread of the rear tire, buried all the way up to the keyring hole. If it had been a nail, I'd have patched the tube and moved on, but this left a cut...

Just my opiniorn: The one that is trying to maintain a classical appearance and still be modern looks like a plow ought to be an available accessory. I'd like to see the "classic, but unwieldy" done...

Just throwing out a few generalizations: Radial tires=modern. Spoke wheels (and tube-type tires)=not modern. Liquid-cooled=modern. Air cooled=not modern, but Nikasil plated bores=modern (!?). ...

What is classic? What is modern?

Right now, newest street bike in my garage is an '86 XL600R. Every once in a while, I hear I should get a "modern" bike. So just what is modern, anyway? I can think of several ways to draw the...

Bmw r100s

Bought it new in 1982. A couple of other bikes have come and gone since, but this one is THE one. It's kind of funny how the perceptions of others have changed over the years. Was it referred to...

Does it sweat?

I bought a set of snap-on screwdrivers back in the 80's. Black plastic handles. One of the set (of six or seven) started sweating an acrid fluid from the handle a few years ago. Funny that none of...

You won't have an absolutely huge selection to choose from, but there are good, sticky street tires in both 21 and 18 inch sizes.

There was an advert for the Sym Wolf 150 on the back of a recent Motorcycle Classics magazine. Comparing numbers, it was close to a Honda CRF 150F. It has retro (like 1960's) motorcycle styling,...
