Rideon2,

Sounds like he's got the determination to get through all this. With the love and support from his family, it'll make it all that much better.

You'll both be out on the bikes come...

BobLoblaw, Hi!

That's great for finding that. Thanks! :D

My guess is your question regarding going from low octane fuels to higher octane fuels while using Lennie's Sprockets is based on...

Lennie, hi!

It does help. And I think we're saying basically the same thing. My apologies if I got a bit too verbose. But I just started typing my thoughts, as best as I could explain them....

Is this okay?

Last and not least, I'll try to answer your question, BobLoblaw.

Unless one is running a turbo, the dynamic compression ratio of these motors will never go higher than the state compression ratio....

I think I understand what Lennie is saying ...

I'll throw this out, and maybe it'll make sense. I'm getting kind of tired. It's almost three in the morning here. :D

Dynamic Compression and RPM's

Dynamic compression changes based on intake valve timing.

You can have the same duration, but if it stays open after Bottom Dead Center, and the rpm's are low, the compression stroke will start...

No bashing, please ..

BobLoblaw, hi!

I just read this great article. It totally makes sense, for Variable Duration Valve Timing.

The Formula One buffs can probably give more details of this, but they developed...

But there are some other variables ..

Let me start with a couple of questions to Lennie.

Does your sprocket open the intake valves earlier or later, relative to the crankshaft rotation?

Another question, which Lennie might...

Digging a bit deeper into Bobloblaw's great question, how much will the compression increase?

If the cam isn't changed, then the duration that the intake valves are open won't change. ...

Just wondering ...

Roger, hi!

Hope you don't mind me asking for clarification here.

What I'm reading is if the intake valves are open for a longer time, than the compression at TDC would be less, and if they...

I appreciate your help.

Eric, hi!

I agree with you. 99,000 miles on a driveshaft, and there's a good chance it's going to blow.

If you look above, I've edited my update to reflect that I think, as you say, they...

No Chrome Bashing In This Thread.
