Use a pipe cutter and take some off each end. I usually take 1/2 inch off each side. Make sure that your controls and levers fit before you start cutting.

Correct. He said as long as the oem tensioner (when its removed) is the same length or longer than the dirt tricks tensioner in its collapsed position, you are good go.

I ended up with 13/50. Like it for the tighter conditions I ride in. Still goes pretty good up top. I really don't ride much road. Only to connect to certain trails.

No. You can check it the same way. Loosen clamps and pull it from the intake and rotate. Pull off the throttle cable cover first. Thats how I change the needle in my bike when/if needed.
