Update..

So day 2 with the new set up. The SMH10's "pair" way easier than Scala's. The ear-bud set up in my helmet is great. My wife has the regular helmet speakers and mic set up in an HJC 3/4 face helmet....

I got a pair to for my dirt riding/knee brace set up. Good for that. They fit over M/C type boots and over Astrik knee braces which is what I got them for.. Really great pants for the price.

Like the O.P I have a Multistrada 1200 with the OEM clamshell cases. They really only work well with the matching fitted pannier liners. They are fine used in that matter and on that particular bike...
