Pulling it out makes it loud.

Turning it one way makes it feel like it's spurting/gasping.

The other way makes the engine louder.

I was in same dilemma myself but decided that the 500 EXC better suits my terrain preferences.

I'm not very keen on street riding. I trailer it everywhere....
