A hammock with fly should be as dry and weather proof as a tent. And a bit more portable. This does not include a heavy storm.

All the US oem tanks i have seen have brass inserts with machine threaded screws to fasten the petcock on as well as the radiator shrouds.

I think there is lots of stuff around Boise. Check out the Idaho parks and rec trail map. Danskin Mountains are close to Boise but I think a lot of that was closed this year for repairs.

JD kit also changed the stroke of the pumper in the float bowl so you should check that part out too. I believe it shortens the stroke and the O ring makes it squirt faster.
