The solution we ended up with was pretty simple - we removed the cross strap that got pinched when the handle bar is turned to the left.
Apparently it doesn't affect the stability of the front...

You (and especially the pillion) will be more comfortable on a 650 V-Strom. Besides that it gets better mileage, has a bigger fuel tank and sufficient power.
