A 650cc sport bike is MUCH more powerful than a 650cc cruiser or single cylinder thumper....

Look at the F650 single cylinder bikes (2007 and earlier) for her first one. It's a wonderful beginner bike, with enough power to take her on the road for long distances, and nice linear power...

+1 on the Beemer F650GS twin. I rode the single on several long trips including a Bunburner 1000. I've got the twin now, factory lowered with low seat, and I think it can do everything she wants it...
