I had the same symptoms and had the output seal weeping enough to sling oil on the rim. All that stopped when I replaced the CARC breather. It's dry as a bone now.

I've run the K-60's on my Stelvio. The front tire will last forever, 20,000 miles easily. I get 6k from the rear, the only tire I've tried that beat that was an Anakee 3 which easily went over 8k....

Just carry a small fire extinguisher to quench the occasional flaming final drive and you're good to go.
