On my 1200gs the little round oil level indicator is just black, all the time, cold after standing a night in my garage, or after a 50km commute to work. Just black, if I turn the bike on and it goes...

I cannot seem to lock my steering...perhaps I am doing something stupid.
Handlebars turned all the way left, and key turned to the lock symbol on the ignition, problem is I cannot get the key out...
