I owned a XChallenge and just bought a KTM 690 and neither is good for 2-4hr stretches of hwy but if those are your only two choices the XChallenge fits your bill (long hwy-light off road)much better...

It's just so the throttle cable doesn't rub against the bars or clamps. Mine doesn't touch either but when in motion and moving the bars I suppose there could be some contact.
