If you are 300#, I think you need the torque of 600 to 650 cc. DR650, XL600, or XR650 would be my choice, especially if $2000 is your budget. I am 6'-2" as well, 200# and I love the power of my XL....

My XL had a serious lean on the stand when I got it. At the top of the stand, the forked part was spread out and the shoulder bolt was stripped. Heated up the forked end red hot and beat it back...

I put mine on the banjo bolt at the head...

I put mine on the banjo bolt at the head (XL600R). By the way, Trail Tech is really good about sending you longer wires if you need them.
