I'm 5' 11" and bought the medium for my R1150GSA. I wish I had bought the large because I still get a lot of turbulence. May be more going on though than just windshield height.

I commute 84 miles a day on a 2004 GSA with an Aeroflow. I consistently get at least 42 mpg. Get a Level 2 tune up if the bike hasn't had one for awhile.
