Thanks for all the help. Taking apart the right fork cleared things up even further. No swarf in the right fork and it had something the Haynes manual calls a "Buffer", shown below.

Replacement horn

My horn just died too...while tooting it to get through state inspection! He passed me if I promised to replace it ASAP.

Mine died from an open circuit within the horn. Jumping 12 v directly...
